Artist Outreach
Whitehorse Concerts is dedicated to providing Yukoners with access to its performers for lessons, lectures and workshops during their visit to the Yukon. Although their stay is usually of short duration, these performers are always generous with their knowledge and take time out of their busy schedules to teach, meet with members of the music community, and give pre-concert talks.
Youth Music Initiative Program
This program is presented in conjunction with the Yukon Music Teachers Association. Music students receive a certificate from their music teacher which enables them to attend any concert in our series for only $5. If you would like more information please contact us or talk to your music teacher.
Pre-Concert Artists' Talks
Performers give artists' talks before every concert from 7:00 - 7:30 pm in the production room at the Yukon Arts Centre. These are free and everyone is welcome. Talks are geared towards music students and there's always time to ask some questions and learn a little more about each performer.
School Performances
Whitehorse Concerts has been bringing world class performers to schools all over the Yukon for the past 23 years. They have seen early music, harps, drums, pianists and almost all forms of classical music. We also take the music out to rural communities, and we have presented performances over the years in every community in the Yukon. Our school tours have sent a bassoonist to Old Crow, four trombone players to the 12 students in Destruction Bay, and a string quartet to the school in Dawson City. Thousands of students and almost two generations of students have heard and seen these wonderful performers in their schools over the years.
If you are interested in taking a lesson with one of the performers you see, or if you’d like to learn more about them, please get in touch with us.
